Baxie’s Musical Podcast: How Punk Rock Ruined John Robb’s Life

Since the late 1970’s musician, author, historian, music journalist John Robb has seen just about everything. After writing nine books ranging from Goth Rock to Brit Pop (a term that he coined himself), after writing for such respected music publications as The Melody Maker, Sounds, The Guardian, The Independents (and many others), after running the website Louder Than War, after appearing in nearly every British music documentary over the last several decades, and after releasing more than two dozen records with his bands The Membranes and Goldblade—John Robb has finally written about his own amazing life story.

His latest book “Punk Rock Ruined My Life: And Other Stories” (out May 19th) takes a look at the ups and downs of a wild career! John and I talk about everything from David Bowie to the Sex Pistols, to being the first British journalist to interview Nirvana, to bands we both love, to running a fanzine, to the late Steve Albini, and a whole lot more. It’s always great to welcome him back to the podcast! Listen on Apple Podcast, YouTube, Spotify, and on the Rock102 app!
