CHIEF ENGINEER – REGIONAL NEW ENGLAND STATIONS

Saga’s regional New England radio group seeks a Chief Engineer.

We have a rare opening in our company for an experienced chief engineer for our radio stations in the Springfield, Northampton and Greenfield Massachusetts area.

We operate five FM, three AM stations, translators and HD FM multicast channels programmed from three excellent studio facilities in the Pioneer Valley.

The Pioneer Valley area encompasses five colleges and Northampton is an intellectually stimulating vibrant youthful community rich in the arts and entertainment.  The environment provides a lovely small town New England setting yet is close to the cities of Springfield MA and Hartford CT.  Day trips to Boston are doable.  And great Alpine skiing is a couple of hours away in southern Vermont at Mount Snow.

Candidate should have experience in AM & FM RF transmission systems including digital HD radio, studio audio both analog and digital and sufficient IT knowledge to work with and install broadcast automation, DAW’s and general workstations.  FCC and SBE certifications are a plus.  Candidate should have good interpersonal skills and be a self starter who can take charge of projects and organize their own work day.  Candidate will be responsible for developing annual local engineering capital expenditure budgets and help plan for future growth and upgrades.  Candidate will have the autonomy to hire contractors with special skills to help with engineering projects.

Candidate will work with a regional IT engineer who will provide most of the IT intensive support for the stations.  In addition, the chief engineers of other clusters are available to advise and aid as needed.   And the corporate director of engineering will provide support on engineering and legal matters through other corporate resources.
