Atoms for Peace stages surprise gig after festival scrapped

Radiohead star Thom Yorke’s supergroup Atoms for Peace staged a surprise concert for fans in Texas after storms prompted promoters to scrap their Austin City Limits festival appearance on Sunday.

Heavy rain and flash flooding warnings left organizers of the event with no choice but to cancel the final day of the festival – and sets from the National, Franz Ferdinand, Phoenix and Lionel Richie.

But Yorke and his bandmates refused to let the bad weather wreck their trip to Texas and they decided to play a surprise concert in town the same night they were due to take the ACL stage.

The 15-song concert was posted on the band’s website on Tuesday.
